Prevalence of Cleft lip/palate is more in Asian countries compared to any other regions in the world. Isolated non syndromic cleft lip/palate constitutes more than 75% of the reported cases. Its more polygeneic in nature and the gene environmental influence plays a major role in the high prevalence in our India. The vision of our team is to develop a polygenic risk prediction model for non syndromic cleft lip and/or palate.
